Win7 Codecs is an audio & video codec package installation for Windows 7, developed by Shark007. It makes possible for Windows Media Player to play over 15 different audio and video formats. The program includes many video codecs such as FLV, MP4, & DivX, plus several audio codecs like Flac & amr. These aren't normally recognized by Win media player.
Although this package was designed for Win7, there is also an alternative for Win XP/ Vista. After installing Windows, the Media Player and the Media Center will instantly recognize all supported files as playable.
The codecs package has been enhanced in its video capabilities since Windows 7 is far advanced on that matter. It offers hardware accelerated (DXVA) H264 codecs, as well as for PDIF, digital, optical and HDMI.
Win7 Codecs flows perfectly with the system and remains in the background as a tray icon. Here users will find the settings window that will allow choosing different splitters and decoder options. The utility also allows choosing different speaker configurations for input and up to 7.1 channel in output (accordingly to the present sound card/device).
